Whether you’re trying to dispose of an old appliance, a blown car engine, a set of rims, a bundle of wire or a truckload of aluminum cans, Southern Metals Recycling not only has you covered, we’ll get you paid! Why let that valuable scrap metal sit around your property taking up space and looking unsightly? There’s nothing better than a clean yard and a pocketful of cash.
Vehicles and Trailers- (O.C.G.A §§ 40-3-36; 40-3-56) when purchasing a vehicle, the seller must have either a title or title cancellation certificate (to be filled out by SMR employee).
*Title Cancellation Certificates- if the seller did not obtain a title in their name or has lost the title for a vehicle that is older than 12 years and worth less than $850. Or if a trailer is at least 12 years old and worth less than $1700. Then a title cancellation certificate (MV1SP) needs to be filled out and signed by all parties. **Note: knowingly falsifying a title cancellation certificate by either the buyer or seller is a felony. **
*Filing Documents with the DMV- originals titles and/or Title Cancellation Certificate must be sent to DMV within 72 hours of purchase. **Note you must also submit the information to the federal government.**
*Record Retention- a copy must be kept of the title (front and back) and of the signed Title Cancellation Certificate, copy of receipt of purchase, and a copy of the check for 2 years.
*Liens/Security Interests- required to check to verify there are no liens on vehicles. If there is a lien listed on the title, it must be signed on the title that it has been released.
All liens are now required to be released by the lienholder upon their satisfaction.
Dear Valued Customer,
As you know, Southern Metals Recycling is committed to the protection of the environment, compliance with all scrap recycling laws and regulations and above all the safety of our customers, employees and community. As part of this ongoing effort we want to share with you the most up-to-date information on maintaining safe loads and material prior to pick-up or delivery to our facility. Below is our Source Control information. This will help you identify those materials that we can safely and efficiently recycle and those that we cannot. With your help, we can ensure that this is a safer, cleaner, more profitable experience for all parties. Please review the outline and feel free to ask any questions you might have. We greatly appreciate your help!
The purpose of this outline is to stress our continuing commitment to safe, environmentally responsible recycling. Our commitment is intended to protect you, our supplier, as well as ourselves and other customers visiting our facility. We want you to feel assured that when you send your recyclable materials to us they will be handled in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.
This list is not intended to be all-inclusive. Suppliers as well as members of our industry must use common sense and best judgment to determine which materials cannot be safely and efficiently recycled and to manage the associated risks appropriately.
If these or other materials that we determine to be unacceptable are included in any shipment of materials delivered to or picked up by us, we will contact you in order to make the appropriate arrangements for handling of the rejected materials. We reserve the rights to refuse any items we feel are dangerous, hazardous, hard to process or unacceptable.
Due to the excessive delivery of unacceptable items, effective January 1, 2015, we have implemented a fine system to eliminate our need to process hazardous and non-accepted materials. All loads containing any hazardous or non-accepted material will be assessed a $100.00 deduction per unit found in the load.
Also, SMR has also experienced a higher than normal volume of waste and non-metallic materials that require sorting and disposal in a sanitary landfill. Please be advised that the cost of handling, processing and disposal of such material will be deducted from the total value of the load. Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated.
